BARMY ARMY WIN 2009 KNOCKOUT CUP!! In a game that saw the Barmy Army enter as underdogs and not many predicting a chance, the Barmy Army turned on the style to silence Brewers Bees both during and after the game!! The Barmy Army scored an impressive 451 to win by 9 pins on the night, which in truth flattered the losers who were never really in the game.

CHICO INSPIRES VICTORY... It was always going to be either Chipper or Chico who pulled the side through and this time it was Chico who scored 74 to help the Barmy Army storm through the game with good performances all round on an alley that has caused the side issues during the season. After Chipper lost the toss and the Army were put on first, Hunty may have struggled (6), but Bubba stepped up to the mark with an 11 to get the team going and this was immediately followed by Papa's 15 and then Chico scored his first of two stick-ups (15) to post a massive first hand of 79!! The mighty Barmy Army followed this with a 58, losing just three pins, but then with anchor man Flukey scoring 15 the 3rd hand saw the Barmy Army move 21 pins clear with a 65. The fourth hand effectively ended the tie when star man Chico whacked in a big 17 to help the Barmy take a 31 pin lead with 68. The 5th & 6th hand were still important and the Barmy Army solidly hit 61 & 63, meaning Brewers could only pull 4 pins and the Barmy Army were left 27 up going in to the last hand, where they scored their lowest score of the night with 57, which was more than enough to cope with Brewers decent attempt to catch the winners (75).

CHIPPER FALLS AT LAST HURDLE... After leading the averages virtually all season, Chipper was pipped to the post by Chico and then to add salt to the wound, Flukey also pulled enough pins to end the season 0.01 pins ahead in the averages. Chico's 74 was also the highest score of the season but not enough to catch up with Flukeys 11 top scores.
